Children are encouraged to practice solidarity 06-25-2022

Africa-Press – Angola. The encouragement of solidarity practices led, yesterday, the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) “No Backpack Day” to distribute 220 backpacks to students at Colégio São José do Cluny, in Luanda.

The project, an initiative of the North American Mongai Fankam, was created as a challenge to stimulate acts of solidarity among children.

The solidarity act, which has the “blessing” of the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, and in partnership with the platform “Transform lives, be a woman”, has already included visits to the Elizângela Filomena and Pitruquinhas Schools.

During the visit, Mongai Fankam said that the idea of creating the project came after visits to families in Cameroon, where he saw a different reality from the American reality, in which students went to schools without backpacks or school supplies.

“The project challenges young people to live a day in schools without backpacks, using bags and crates, in order to get a sense of the experience lived by many children around the world, to go to school”, he highlighted.

For Karina Cambuandy, 12 years old, a 6th grade student at Colégio São José do Cluny, the NGO’s initiative should be replicated in many countries, as a way of serving students in need.

After Angola, the NGO intends to present the project in schools in Namibia and Zambia. Mongai Fankam also informed that he intends to soon grant scholarships to some African countries and develop more initiatives to encourage female empowerment.

The platform “Transform lives, be a woman”, was created in 2018, with the aim of empowering young women and inspiring them to become agents of change and influence in communities, with a focus on the domain of education and promotion of citizenship. and autonomy.
